Being Water Wise
Around 200 million litres of water is piped to homes, schools and businesses throughout the Wellington region daily. This rises to 300 million litres in hot weather, which is an awful lot of water.

By following these household & garden tips, you can help make a difference to your region's water supply and its sources:
  • Install a tap timer or an automatic controller (a forgotten sprinkler can waste a huge amount of water).
  • Using drip irrigation systems conserves water as these are close to ground level, avoiding wind drift and loss through
  • If watering by hand choose water efficient devices such as triggers that stop water flows as you move between plant beds.
  • Use mulch. As well as slowing weed growth, it reduces evaporation by up to 70% and improves the soil's ability to hold water. Soil must be moist before applying mulch.
  • Water Harvesting = collection of roof run off into tanks as a water supply
  • Water Storage = using streams, lakes and bores to draw water from
  • evaporation.

Frequency of Watering
Watering when your plants need moisture is the key to water conservation. The ideal situation is to water the root zone of your plants and no more. By leaving the soil to dry out in between watering, you'll encourage deep root growth and healthy plants. The frequency of watering depends on a number of factors including climate, selected plants, soil texture, water pressure and season.
As a general rule, flowers and vegetables need short, frequent watering. Trees, shrubs and lawns require a deeper soaking but less often.

Controllers
There is a wide range of automatic controllers available to save you time, money and water. We have selected models that are the best value for money and which offer superior operating features and reliability. Both power and battery options are available, and now remote access via phone app or the internet cloud.

Eliminate Unnecessary Watering - for the ultimate in conservation, save water and eliminate unnecessary watering with a "raincheck" device. When installed these turn off your automatic irrigation when its raining or already rained and once your property has dried out, the system will return to normal operation.

Water Storage
We sell the most technically advanced water tanks suitable for agricultural, commercial and domestic applications. They’re ideal for catching and storing rainwater for irrigation purposes and can also be used in the case of an emergency. These tanks are designed for strength, practicality and durability.
  • Storage capacity from 5000 litres to 30,000 litres
  • Will not corrode
  • Resistant to algae growth
  • Lightweight, easy to handle
  • Easy to plumb and connect.
  • 20 year warranty
Should you want the water for potable uses (drinking, cooking etc,) we recommend the addition of UV filtration, and you might want to consider installing a tank  filter system to remove dirt, leaves and debris before entering your tank which helps prevent residue and sludge build-up.

Rain Bank - The ultimate water saving device!
Designed to manage your water supply between tank and town main!
If you have a tank for the collection of rainfall for domestic water use, installing a 'rain bank' will automatically switch between the water tank and your normal house water main as required. For example, if the tank runs low, it will automatically switch to town main and top the tank up. It will only allow a preset amount each time so that your tank is able to fill again when it rains.
